Our motivation and ethos

Today’s energy prices continue to rise steeply within a highly competitive market dominated by energy ‘giants’ – the big-name suppliers whose driving motivation is to make increasing profits.

This means that the number of UK households struggling against the misery of fuel poverty is now estimated to be around four million. Often these households include the most vulnerable in our society: the elderly, children, the disabled, and single parent families. Read more about the effect of energy prices on fuel poverty, and how it affects individuals in our communities.

Ebico was set up specifically to help counter the market pressures that are increasing poverty and heightening social inequity. Our guiding principles are:

  • to seek out ways to support those most disadvantaged by dominant market trends
  • to redress the bias towards profit in the energy market by offering viable alternatives that are equitable and fair
  • to initiate and practise wise stewardship of resources.

These principles are motivated by and based on the Christian gospel. To find out more about our ethos, meet our directors.

To understand more about the energy market, see How the gas market works and How the electricity market works.

As an EBICo customer for over two years, I am totally satisfied with the service you provide and the knowledge that society is also benefiting from your ethical business stance.
